Villafranca del Bierzo to Herrerias 10/18/2015

Rainy Day in the Forests and Glens

Leaving Villafranca del Bierzo .... This is a view out our hotel room window of a building in ruins and "for sale " directly across the street

Lobby of our 400 year old hotel in Villafranca del Bierzo

This is the morning light at 8:30 am

Crossing the bridge out of Villafranca

Looking back at Villafranca del Bierzo as we leave the city

Waterfall/dam Rio Burbia leaving Villafranca del Bierzo

Into the forests and glens we go & away from the city

Mariah in awe of the river Rio Valcarce which we followed along for the entire day

Mariah spots the sheep and their lambs

Garden of the day award!

Awe.... Mariah feels at home, she misses her chickens at home in Michigan

Quaint petite church of the day! It's Sunday and the doors are open!

Beautiful Interior! Love the rock and stone against the beautiful wood beams!
Rustic bench seating

On the home stretch.... Balboa!

Beautiful glen with sheep and beautiful variety of trees taking on their fall colors!

Cows!.... We started to hear a symphony between the higher pitch sheep bells, the lower pitch cow bells and the sound of the river! .....such a beautiful sound as we walked in the misty rain!

Wow....after a 7 hour walk day we entered the Village of Herrerias and immediately came upon the most charming Inn and restaurant overlooking a meadow and a pretty village in the distance..... and to our excitement they had an available room for us!

Views from Hotel Balcony on our floor

Views of Dining Room from Balcony

Views out our hotel room window.... See Camino de Santiago road sign. We are in heaven tonight! ... Probably the nicest place we have stayed.... Lodging is unpredictable and we have really had a "wide range" of experiences in Pilgrim Alburgues and hotels on the Camino. Tonight is a REAL treat after a misty magical day by the forests, rivers and glens!
Happy Sunday to All!
